Lighting spectacular launches in the North and South walkways at Tower Bridge

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

After several months of hard work and dedication, the stunning lighting design scheme for the East & West Walkways of Tower Bridge, designed by Eleni Shiarlis Lighting has been revealed.

The permanent lighting scheme has been broken down into two categories “Event Lighting” and “Exhibitions Lighting”, and both are required to work simultaneously but also perform independently. The scheme provides a more practical, cost effective and energy efficient solution for the iconic building.

Lighting the most famous bridge in the world was not without its challenges, and extensive tests and a couple of mock-ups were done before the final scheme was decided upon, but by working sensitively within the incredible architecture and with a methodical yet inspired approach, a stunning show of light and colour has been realised in the perfect integration of Victorian architecture and cutting edge lighting technology.
